CARDWELL, W.A. - W.A. Cardwell, one of Benton county's highly respected citizens, fell from the barn loft at his home south of Springtown on Monday of last week and was fatally injured. Physicians were called at once and upon examination it was found that his lungs were so injured by the fall that there were no hopes for his recovery. He passed away on Thursday evening. He was 74 years of age. Besides his widow he is survived by seven children, Walter, Jake and Bert Cardwell, who live in Oklahoma, and Mrs. Cal Guthary and Mrs. Tom Dellinger of Logan; Mrs. Wm. Holbrook and Mrs. Jason Guthary, also living in Oklahoma. All of his children were at his bedside when he died. While here Mrs. Holbrook lost her eyesight and was taken home in a serious condition. Funeral services were held at the Fairmount church, Rev. Willie Downum officiating. He was laid to rest in the presence of his old friends and neighbors. He professed faith in Christ when a young man and has been a member of the M.E. Church all his life. He also served as a deacon in his church for a number of years.
