Dr. Harry Walter Doty, sixty-three, widely known farmer and fruit grower, died at a local hospital Sunday morning following a critical illness of about a week. He underwent an emergency operation Friday in an effort to save his life but he failed to rally. Dr. Doty came to Benton county in 1920, purchasing a farm one and a half miles southwest of Rogers. Prior to that time he was engaged in the practice of medicine at Watonga, Blaine county, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of a St. Louis medical school and a post¬graduate of Tulane university, New Orleans. He began the practice of medicine in Oklahoma in 1898 and continued there until he moved to Rogers. He served as a first lieutenant in the medical corps during the World war, being assigned to the medical corps at Camp Pike. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, the Modern Woodmen and the American legion. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday morning with the Rev. Ben C. Few, pastor of Central Methodist church, officiating. The American legion assisted in the services at the home and pall bearers were members of that organization. Burial services were in charge of the Masonic lodge. J.W. Bryant was in charge of arrangements. Dr. Doty is survived by his widow, Mrs. Allie Cochran Doty, two daughters, Mrs. E.S. Wildman, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Bryant Miller, Pea Ridge, one son, Emerson Doty, Little Rock; and four sisters, Mrs. Hannah Dickett, Mrs. Addin Pittman, Mrs. Dora Hall and Mrs. Ida Warren, all of Easton, Ill.
