SPRINGDALE — Mildred Juanita Gillette Moneyhun, age 87, of Springdale died June 16, 2012, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Springdale, the daughter of Harold Gillette and Gladys Dye Gillette.

Mildred was put on the Cradle Roll at First Baptist Church, Springdale, at an early age.

In 1937, the family moved to Oklahoma, where Mildred graduated from high school as co-valedictorian and attended John Brown University on a scholarship. Teachers were in great demand as many left their teaching job to work in defense plants in 1943. Mildred took the teacher's test and was hired to teach at the Oak Grove School, where she met Keith Moneyhun in a Sunday school class. They were married Jan. 31, 1946.

She attended Cross Church of Springdale and was a member of Walk Through the Bible class taught by Jim Hyde.

She was a homemaker and a helpmate to her husband, and spent her entire married life as a resident of the Oak Grove Community, west of Springdale. They grew Concord grapes for Welch's and had dairy cows, and later, beef cattle. Mildred loved gardening and canning, flowers, traveling and was an accomplished seamstress. She worked as a bookkeeper at International Paper Company, Long-Bell Division, in Springdale, in the late '60s and 70s.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and a brother; her husband, Keith: and a daughter, Marilyn King.

She is survived by a son, James and Ramona of Cave Springs; a grandson, James Michael Moneyhun and Alicia of Flower Mound, Texas; two granddaughters, Kelly Davis of Irving, Texas, and Angela Mullen and Matt of Fort Worth, Texas; two great-grandsons, Kale and Jaxsen; a sister-in-law, Juanita Blood of Colcord, Okla.; a son-in-law, Dan King of Springdale; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Charlie Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Springs Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Willard Walker Hospice Home, Fayetteville, Ark.

Pallbearers will be George Anderson, George Anderson Jr., Billy Gillette, James Rollin Gillette, Paul Blood and Kent Swinney. Honorary bearers will be David VanBebber, Garratt VanBebber, Thomas VanBebber, Luke VanBebber and Roger McGuire.
