MOUNTAIN VIEW – Ira J. Gayler, 75, of Mountain View died Monday, April 9, 2001, in a hospital in Mountain View.
Born Jan. 11, 1926, in Stone County, he was the son of Zadie Dobbins and Ira O. Gayler. He retired from Hercules Inc. and was a Mason with Masonic Lodge 202 and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Mitchell Gayler; two sons, Daniel Gayler of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Mitchell Gayler of Lawrence, Kan.; two brothers, Carl Gayler of Mountain View and Ottis Gayler of Banning, Calif.; a sister, Maxine Lawrence of Mountain View; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, three sisters and four infant children.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Flatwoods Baptist Church in Mountain View with the Rev. Wayne Harper officiating. Burial will be at Flatwoods Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Coffman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ivan Gayler, Keith Gayler, Don Thomas, Larry Lawrence, Gayler Thomas and Jimmy Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ira Thomas, Bill Gayler and Jack Thomas.
