Lois Deloria Dodson, 98, of Mountain View, Arkansas, died on Tuesday, October 30, 2013, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, where she resided for the past two months.
She was born in Rocky Hill, Arkansas, and was a professional quilt maker.
Survivors include three sisters, Floye Utter of Arkansas, Estel Christman of Indiana, and Norma Eggers of Indiana, and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Austin Dodson, her parents, six brothers, and three sisters.
During her lifetime, Lois worked as a hairdresser, a real estate agent, and more recently as a quilt maker at the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, Arkansas. She was a professional quilt maker, having sold over 700 quilts during her career, and many articles and pictures of her were published in quilting magazines over the years. Lois was a devoted member of Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed the simplest things in life and loved to travel. Lois was blessed with a love for the Lord and a steadfast faith that took her through an extended illness.
She will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of her beloved family and friends.
A visitation will take place on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 9-11 A.M. at Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas. A funeral service will begin following visitation at 11:00A.M. Officiating the service are Pastor Joe Morrell and Pastor Maxie Haynes. Interment will take place at Flatwoods Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ron Simpson, Tom Hector, Hinkle Decker, Kevin Johnson, Mike Richardson, and Phillip Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers are Randy Long, Ben Brown, Duane Crymes, Donald Beckham, Jim Hinkle, Dean Teague, and Ronnie Risner.
Donations can be made to Flatwoods Baptist Church, Mtn. View, AR in memory of Lois Dodson.
