Athlea Dulcia Moody, 92, of Mountain View entered into rest on May 12, 2011 in Batesville.
Athlea was born March 21, 1919 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Ira Franklin and Bettie Cathryn (Teague) LaRoe.
Athlea was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 75 years and one of the last members of the Class of 1938, Mountain View High School.
She was Stone County's first lady in real estate and obtained her real estate salesman and broker's license in 1959. She worked with Strout Realtors, and then transferred to Safe Buy Realtors in 1965.
Athlea was a past President of the Business & Professional Women's Club. She retired in 1985, after 35 years in the real estate business.
Athlea became affiliated with the Rackensack Folklore Society in 1966 and served as a board member. Her grandfather, James LaRoe was a subcontractor that built the current Stone County Court House and the Rock First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Susan and her husband Russell Lemon and Greg and his wife Autumn Moody; five great-grandchildren, Brooke Lemon, Grant, Chase, Blake and Jaxon Moody; her former daughter-in-law, Mona Hayes; an aunt, Klo Teague; and eleven nieces and nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Moody; son, Roger Moody; siblings, Jess and wife Audrey LaRoe, Kathryn and Melvin Gray, Nora and Ken Brownlee and Annis and her husbands James Bell and Quincy Kraft.
Funeral service is 11 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2011 at Roller Crouch Chapel, Mtn. View with Bro. Richard Nuckolls officiating and interment in Flatwoods Cemetery, Mtn. View.
Pallbearers are Greg Moody, Russell Lemon, Grant Moody, Butch Brownlee, Gerald Gray and James Ivy.
Roller Crouch Funeral Home, Mtn. View will be in charge of the arrangements.
