James Earl Franks, 67, of Mountain View, AR passed away at his home on August 8, 2011. He was born October 30, 1943 in Allison, AR to Lyle and Lillie Franks. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He owned and published the Stone County Leader from 1966 to 1981 and was the owner-operator of Franks Construction from 1981 until his death. He served as the first president of the Stone County Jaycees, was a past president of the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce and a member of the "Mountain View Round Table".
James Earl is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years Judy (Risner) Franks of Mountain View, son Alex Franks and wife Jan of Mountain View, daughter Julie Nelson and husband Gary of St. Louis, MO, three grandchildren: Reid Nelson, Morgan Nelson and Nate Franks, sister Bernice Altman and husband J.T., sister Iva Brooks and husband Mike all of Mountain View, AR, brother Steve Franks and wife Vicki of Rogers, AR, brother-in-law Ronnie Risner and wife Charlene of Mountain View, Sister-in-law Jane Cartwright of St. Louis, MO, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Ivan and Fannie Risner and his brother-in-law Zack Cartwright of St. Louis.
Visitation is 9 -11 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Mountain View.
Funeral service is 11 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Mountain View with Bro. Ray Brown officiating and interment in Flatwoods Cemetery, Mountain View.
Pallbearers are Aaron Boucher, Noel Boucher, Eric Curl, Rowdy Ross, Reid Nelson and Jason Thieme. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Allred, Benny Decker, Jim Greenway, Norvell Love, E.W. Stewart and All the men--past and present --of Franks Construction and All the men of the "Round Table".
Roller Crouch Funeral Home, Mtn. View is in charge of the arrangements.
