LICHLYTER, Martha Lovada HALL - Martha Lovada, daughter of Robert and Mary (Queen) Hall, was born in North Carolina March 15, 1847. When about five years old she moved with her parents to Benton county, Arkansas where she grew to maturity. About September 1865 she was married at Springfield, Mo. to George Crockett Lichlyter, who passed away June 10, 1888. To this union were born ten children, nine of whom are still living, to wit: Flora Marrs of Springtown, Ark.; Sallie Chastain and Emma Marrs of Gentry, Ark.; Josie McGinnis and Lula Poole of Sherman, Tex.; Hobert Lichlyter of Amarillo, Tex.; James W. Lichlyter of Richland, Tex.; Alwilda Bowen of Howe, Tex. and Effie Savage of Van Alstyne, Tex. Something more than forty years ago she professed a hope in Christ and united with the Baptist church at Springtown, Ark. At the time of her death she was a member of the First Baptist church at Sherman, Texas. Several times during her last illness she expressed a feeling of trust in God and said she was not afraid to die. In 1898 she moved with her children to Grayson county, Tex where she made her home till the time of her death which occurred at the home of her daughter, Flora, wife of Sam Marrs, March 30, 1915 after an illness of about two weeks in which her suffering was intense. She had come from Texas about six months ago to visit her daughters here and was making her preparations to return when she was stricken down with disease. Before her death her two sons and two of her daughters, Lula Poole and Effie Savage, came from Texas to her bedside and stayed with her to the end. Also her stepson, Wm. F. Lichlyter of Oktaha, Okla. came to pay her his respects. On Wednesday, March 31, religious services were conducted by Eld. T.F. Jones and the body was deposited in the Springtown cemetery, a great concourse of people being present to witness the last sad rites. J.L. Chastain.
