PEARSON, JONATHAN CLIFFORD - Cleburne County, Arkansas | JONATHAN CLIFFORD PEARSON - Arkansas Gravestone Photos

Jonathan Clifford PEARSON

Heber Springs Cemetery
Cleburne County,
Arkansas

1892 - 1970

Note;

Although I Know the birthdate says 1892, it is an error. J C Pearson was born in 1892. Here is the obit with source and several census entries that back this up. It is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that two Jonathan Clifford Pearsons would be buried in the same cemetery with the same death date. Here is my info:

Jonathan Cliford (J. C.) Pearson 1902-1970

Jonathan Clifford Pearson was born September 14, 1902, in Oswego. Kansas. His parents were Jonathan Bradbury Pearson and Mary Elizabeth Mosler Pearson of Oswego County.
J.C., as he was called, came to Heber Springs from Kansas in 1949. He immediately became active in the real estate business. J. C. wasted no time in getting involved with the Greers Ferry Dam Association and served as its president and was instrumental in getting the Greers Ferry Dam constructed by making numerous trips to Washington and throughout the area promoting the project.
Besides successfully promoting the Greers Ferry Dam project, J. C. helped organize the Heber Springs Chamber of Commerce and served two terms as its first president. He was also a member of the Arkansas Consistory and the Scimitar Shrine Temple.
He enjoyed a wide acquaintance in the county and was respected for his industriousness and fine citizenship. JC won friends by his kindness, his personal qualities and inspired respect and confidence with his sincerity and fidelity to his principles. JC took an active interest in all community affairs.
J.C. and his wife, Eloise Roebuck Pearson, and family were members of the Holiday Hills United Methodist Church. They were dedicated members and supported the church both financially and through their time and service.
On Tuesday, Aubust 11, 1970, at the age of sevety, J. C. Pearson passed away.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Mrs. Eloise Robuck Pearson; two sons, Herbert C. Pearson of Japan and Donald V. Pearson of Arizona.
Rev. Tom Cowan officiated at the final tribute
Interment was in the Heber Springs Cemetery by Olmstead Funeral Service. Masonic graveside services were held.
Pallbeareres were H. G. Smith, Sam Recotor, A. N. McCurray, Jerome Johnson, Neill Reed and Jack Barnett.

He first married a lady names Lillian, she was the mother of the two sons listed in the obit. He then married Wylma Eloise Roebuck (who had previously married Victor Dickson and Paul Hackman before marrying J C Pearson in 1966.) His first wife was not the Lillian Pearson buried in this cemetery.

Wylma Eloise Roebuck was my 3rd cousin. That is where my interest lies and i have not found her grave, although I do know from SS Index that she died 23 Mau 1995 in Cleburne, Arkansas.
