*Obituary

Melvin D. Toler of Conway died Thursday (June 7, 2001) at Conway Regional Medical Center.

Born May 27, 1920, in Peach Orchard (Clay County), a son of Carl and Mable Martin Toler, he was agent and telegrapher for Missouri Pacific Railroad, an Army veteran of World War II and a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Padgett Toler; one son, Melvin Toler of Topeka, Kan.; three daughters, Patsy Dusza of Doniphan, Mo. and Norita Carreras and Annette Graham, both of Jacksonville; two brothers, Glen Toler of Vilonia and John Toler of North Little Rock; one sister, Mary Harper of Peach Orchard; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Griffin Leggett-Conway with Rev. Glen Toler officiating.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Padgett, Tommy Padgett, Ronny Padgett, Mark Graham and Rick Fisher.

Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Park.

Betty Padgett Toler of Conway died Wednesday (April 21, 2004).

Born Aug. 24, 1932, in Conway, she was a daughter of the late Joseph L. and Lucille Osburn Padgett. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church of Conway and the Hot Springs Chapter of ESA.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Melvin D. Toler.

She is survived by three brothers, Tommy Padgett and wife, Kay, of Conway, Charles Padgett of Houston, Texas, and Ronny Padgett and wife, Mary, of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Lucy Cummings of Conway, and Rebecca Kessinger and husband, Bob, of Little Rock; two stepdaughters, Norrita Fisher of Fayetteville, Annette Graham of Jacksonville; and seven nieces and nephews.

A special note of acknowledgment and thanks to the doctors and staff of the Conway Regional Oncology Unit, Heritage Nursing Center and Hospice Home Health Care for the tender care and support given by all to Mrs. Toler and her family.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at the Roller-McNutt Chapel. Entombment will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
