BENTONVILLE — Frank Durbin, 86, of Bentonville, Ark. passed away peacefully at home, Friday, June 20, 2014. He was born Nov. 30, 1927, in Joplin, Mo., and grew up near Centerton, Ark., in the loving family of Earl and Anna Durbin Douglas.
He graduated from Bentonville High School in 1947 and was a Navy Veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 9063, the American Legion Post No. 77. Frank was a member of the Bentonville Masonic Lodge No. 56 and a proud Shriners' Dad to Cameron Kruse and Jesse Rine for their treatments at the Shriners Hospital for Children. He was a member of the Bentonville Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Claradean Durbin Davis, Mary Durbin Couts, brother, Chester Douglas and nephew, Mike Davis.
Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years, JoAnn Firestone Durbin; son, Clark Durbin (Sheri) of Blaine, Minn.; daughter, Carol Durbin (Tom Bannan), of Chula Vista, Calif.; grandson, Jeff Payne Montclair, Va.; great-grandchildren, Ian and Christen Payne of Montclair, Va.; sister, Crystal Hutcheson (Lindsey) of Owasso, Okla.; several nieces and nephews, including Patricia Harris (Wildon) of Owasso, Okla., and Roy Kilgore (Corinna) of Kerrville, Texas. He will also be missed by his companion, Tori and the Mayflower family.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel in Rogers with Minister Tim Rine officiating. Last rites will be presented by his Masonic family.
Private burial will be in the Bentonville Cemetery with full military honors.
