Felts Burton Rector died November 15, 2011, at his son's home in Maumelle at age 95. Felts was born April 4, 1916, in the Rector house on Quitman Street in Heber Springs, the third son of Samuel Bingham and Jeffie Felts Rector. He completed high school in Heber Springs, graduated from Ouachita Baptist College, and joined the Army Air Corps. He was discharged in 1946 as a lieutenant colonel. He began his banking career at the Arkansas National Bank and retired in 1984 from Heber Springs State Bank. He was active in Democratic party politics, Red Cross, and served on the Heber Springs School Board for many years. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church.
Felts is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William, Robert, and Sam, Jr. He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Barbara (Mickey) Rector; his son, David (Janine); and his daughter, Nancy. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jason Rector, Allison Isbell (Jason), Mary-Kathryn Rector, and great grandchildren, Katylin Rector, Levi, Ezekiel, and Samuel Isbell.
Felts was a treasure trove of knowledge of the people and history of Cleburne County. He never met a stranger, was proud of his family, and devoted himself to the care of his wife until the day he died. Special thanks to Beverly and the late Richard Bolin and Sarah and Michael Carter for all their assistance.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 18, from 12:00-1:30 p.m. with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. , all at the First Baptist Church.

L. Mullens, Carl D. Huson, and employees of Heber Springs State Bank.
