Rev. Wayne Carr Olmstead's life was changed, not ended, on March 13, 2006 at the age of 70 years. He was the son of the late Ralph and Julia (Phelps) Olmstead. A resident for many years of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, he was the loving husband for 50 years of June; cherished father of Julianna (Richard) Campbell, Hannah (Andrew) Kearns, Bea-Ida (Thomas) Robertson, and Tyler Olmstead; treasured grandfather of Timothy and Benjamin Campbell, and Anastasia, Marcella, Stephen, and Henderson Kearns; and brother of Tom (Jo Ann) Olmstead. He is also lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and parishioners.

A Requiem Eucharist was celebrated by the Bishop of Milwaukee, Steven A. Miller, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18 at St. Edmund's Episcopal Church in Elm Grove, Wisconsin. A reception followed in the church hall.

Fr. Wayne was Rector of St. Edmund's Episcopal Church since 1976, retiring Sunday, February 26, 2006. Prior to St. Edmund's he was Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Hastings, Michigan, for seven years; Rector of St. Stephen's in Plainwell, Michigan, and St. Francis in Orangeville, Michigan. He was also a university minister at both Arkansas State University and Central Michigan University. Father Wayne earned his bachelor's degree in divinity from Duke University in 1958 and his master's from the University of Berkley Divinity School at Yale University in 1966.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am in the Heber Springs Cemetery on Thursday, June 22, 2006
