BENTONVILLE — Jimmy "Jim" Taylor, 72, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011, in Springdale, Ark. He was born May 25, 1938, in Gates. Tenn., to Laney Roy Taylor and Fannie Maybell (Floyd) Taylor.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of First Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn. He loved NASCAR, old cars and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Taylor; four sons, Darrell Lee Taylor and Robert Allen Taylor of California, Greg Garner and wife, Denise, of Fayetteville, Ark., Mark Garner and wife, Gail, of Fayetteville, Ark.; two daughters, Kathy Lynn Taylor of California, Cindy Cox and husband, Monty, of Fayetteville, Ark.; two sisters, Carolyn Jeanette Taylor and Rose Marie Raye of Tennessee; one brother, Jerry Taylor of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held 1 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011, in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Green officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville. Visitation started at noon.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
