July 10, 1883 - April 23, 1961
Malley Newman McKenzie, age 77, Fellowship (Ouachita County), a retired farmer, died Sunday at his home. He was born in Selma, Tenn., and had lived in Ouachita County more than 50 years. From 1909 to 1959, he was a member of the Fairview School Board. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the State School Board Association at the time of his death. He was one of the founders of Fairview School and was a leader in the reorganization of the County school district in the 1920's. Mr. McKenzie was an elder in the Fellowship Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lelia LaGrove McKenzie; three sons, Aubrey McKenzie, Edwin McKenzie and W. A. McKenzie, all of Camden; two daughters, Mrs. G. D. Short of Petersburg, Texas, and Mrs. L. E. Welch of Huntington, Tenn.; three brothers, Mansel McKenzie of Selma, and Dee McKenzie and Eather McKenzie, both of Little Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Will Burns and Mrs. Harvey Ellis, both if Little Rock, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Fellowship Presbyterian Church by Rev. H. W. Inzer and Rev. Raymnond Kinslow. Burial was at Bethesda Cemetery by Forbis Funeral Service of Camden. Active pallbearers were Milas C. Reynolds, C. E. Dedman, R. R. Ross, Cecil, Gray, Fred H. Williams and Jake Carroll. Honorary pallbearers were past and present members of Fairview School Board and County Board of Education. (Camden News - April 24, 1961)
