GENTRY — Lana Mae Howerton, 87, of Gentry died March 11, 2002, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital She was born Feb. 28, 1915, in Gentry to Will Jacob and Nora Ann Trammell Whiteside. She was owner and operator of Howerton's Grocery Store in Siloam Springs, where she lived for more than 50 years. She moved to Gentry in 1997 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Siloam Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Sherman Howerton, in 1996.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Ann Hall and husband Drexel of Gentry; four grandchildren, Dea Ann Heinen of Siloam Springs, Teresa Allcorn of Colcord, Okla., Kevin Hall of Decatur and Angela Ditto of Gentry, five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs with the Rev. Lonnie Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
