Lester Martin Ingraham, 91, of Springdale, died April 26, 2006, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born April 20, 1915, near War Eagle Mills, the son of George Edward and May Bell Shockley Ingraham.
He was a World War II veteran, serving from Dec. 11, 1942 until Jan. 27, 1946, as surgical technician 5th grade in the 129th Army Hospital in England and was able to care for his brother, Edward, after he was wounded in combat in Germany. After serving his country, he returned to the states and moved to Prineville, Ore., and then to Cloverdale, Calif., where he worked as a logger in the Redwood Forest until his retirement in 1977, then returned "home" to Arkansas in 1979. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Leona Hilbert Young Ingraham, to whom he was married March 12, 1955, and his wife, Delores Ertle Simmons Ingraham, to whom he was married Sept. 21, 1978, one brother, William "Edward" Ingraham, stepson, Gary Young and stepdaughter, Janice Young Loranger.
Survivors include one sister, Bonnie Ingraham Zachary and husband Albert; two nephews, Jerry Ingraham of Springdale and Wayne Zachary of Lawrence, Kan.; three nieces, Wanda Zachary Bone of Elkins, Kathy Zachary Law of Tulsa, Okla., and Glenda Zachary Artman of Springdale; six stepgrandchildren, Shane Young, Denise, Angie, Janine, Denise and Joel, and a number of stepgreat-grandchildren, grandnephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 28 at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale with Pat Mannon officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral
home.
Pallbearers will be Gene Artman, Steve Bone, Bradley Ingraham, Don Law, Wayne Zachary and Steve Robertson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Ingraham, Neil Fletcher, Floyd Lindsey, Edward Thompson, Vernon Watson and Shane Young.
