FAYETTEVILLE — Dixie Brooks, 87, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, in Springdale, Ark. She was born Jan. 5, 1923, in Hazel Valley, Ark., to Clyde Stokenbury and Pearl (Long) Harris.

She was retired from Franklin Electric after 25 years, where she was the first female to be hired as plant worker. She was a Baptist and loved to square dance. She and her husband, Frank, square danced from Red River, N.M. to the English Mountains of Tennessee.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Frank Brooks Jr.; two daughters, Linda Ward and husband, Lee, and Cyndee Church, all of Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, Charles Harris of Elkins, Ark., and Ben Harris of Fayetteville, Ark.; three grandchildren, Colby Ward of Temple, Texas, Trent Ward of Fayetteville, Ark., and Davina Church of Tulsa, Okla.: and two great- grandchildren, Tristan and Madalyn Ward of Fayetteville.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 14, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glen Ludwick officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.

Memorial contributions maybe made to the Alzheimer's Association.
