Arlena Ludagay Southerland, 89 of Drasco went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 31, 2012. She was born on Friday, August 4, 1922 in Drasco, Arkansas to the late Alexander and Roseanna Cannon Surgener. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 42 years, Victor Southerland, her son-in-law, Bob Cornelison and her brother, Charlie Surgener. Mrs. Southerland was a homemaker whose main focus in life was caring and providing for all of her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha Rose Lustfeldt and her husband Lee of Drasco; three grandchildren, Teresa Harlan and her husband Brian, Jason Cornelison and his wife Cynthia, Jon Cornelison and his wife Jamie; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Cornelison, Ryan Cornelison, Molly Cornelison, Elise Harlan, Annie Cornelison; two sisters, Marie James of Drasco and Jamae Lacy of Mishawaka, Indiana; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Heber Springs Funeral Home. Visitation for Mrs. Southerland will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012 in the chapel of Heber Springs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Drasco General Baptist Church in Drasco, Arkansas with interment following the services at the Antioch Cemetery.
