FAYETTEVILLE — Russell E. Faupel, 81, of Fayetteville died April 22, 2000, at the Veterans' Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 9, 1919, in DeValls Bluff to Herbert and Clara Blankenship Faupel.

He was retired from the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the noon Kiwanis Club, the Retired Officers Club, the Elks Lodge and Central United Methodist Church. He worked with Boy Scout Troop 102 far 28 years.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Kelly Faupel of the home; one son, Mike Faupel of Fayetteville; two daughters, Kay Faupel and Anne Faupel, both of Arlington, Texas; three brothers, Warren Faupel of Forrest City, Charles Faupel of Hazen and William Faupel of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Ruby Harper of Little Rock.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville with the Rev. J. Anthony Holifield officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.

Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1106, Fayetteville 72702 or the church's Good Sam's Club or the Boy Scouts of America or a favorite charity.
