BELLA VISTA — William "Bill" Welborn, 73, of Bella Vista died April 6, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers.

He was born July 8, 1926, in Rantoul, Kan., to Albert L. and Louise Miller Welborn.

He moved to Bella Vista in 1992 from Oswego, Kan. He was a member of Judson American Baptist Church. He was a state veteran representative for the state of Kansas for more than 26 years and was an Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. He enjoyed golf and bowling and horse races. He was preceded In death by his wife.

Survivors include one son, Robert L. Welborn of Bella Vista; four stepsons, Walter "Butch" Hess and Jeffery Hess, both of Columbus, Kan., Steven Hess of Fort Rucker, Ala., and Kenny Hess of Tulsa, Okla,: one brother, Warren Welborn of Estes Park, Colo.; eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bella Vista Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Moor and the Rev. Dr. Ed Baxter officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Dorothy J. Mortensen, 4 Kensington Lane, Bella Vista, 72714.
