Samuel Augustus Mitchell was born in Saline County Arkansas in May of 1857 to Alphonso Franklin Mitchell and Sarah Ann Phillips. He married Nancy Ermine Glidewell on Sept 10, 1879 and they were the parents of James A., Mattie Pearl, Horace Caleb, Grover Cleveland, William Edward, Mary Alice "Alma", Myrtle and Fannie Mitchell. Samuel died on Jan 17, 1897.
