Paul Watson, 89, of Branch passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, in his residence.
He was born Jan. 16, 1924, in Chismville to John and Minnie Watson.
He married Dora Fox on Aug. 23, 1942. He was a veteran of the Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of Branch Assembly of God, where he served as deacon for more than 50 years. He retired from Combs Home Builders and was a retired carpenter and cattle farmer.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Floyd; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Watson.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Smith Mortuary Chapel with interment at Caulksville Cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dora Watson of the home; five sons, Raymond and wife Gail of Charleston, Richard and wife Elaine of Lavaca, Robert and Ronald Dean, both of Branch and Randy and wife Joan of Paris; two brothers, Virgil of Charleston and Les of Paris; two sisters, Ellen Fox of Paris and Ethel Bogel of Harrison; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Josh and Jim Watson, Carroll Swain, Del Holloway, Melvin Swain and Staton Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. Clinton Ridell, the Rev. David Wasson, the Rev. Glendal Black and members of Branch Assembly of God.
