Houston Michael Whitman, 58 of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011 in Longview, Washington. He was born on February 16, 1953 in Pairs, Arkansas to his parents Houston Curtis and Muriel Lorene (Walker) Whitman. He worked for Safeway in Fort Smith for 14 years and in 1988 Mike and his family moved back to Paris where he worked in home construction for the next 23 years. Mike was an avid outdoorsman, loved gardening, Paris Eagle and Arkansas Razorback Football and was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Lorene Whitman and one brother Muriel Whitman.
Mike is survived by his wife of 37 years Andra (Engles) Whitman of Paris, two sons, Michael Whitman and wife Sarah of Paris and Matthew Whitman of Paris, two sisters, Linda Trusty of Paris and Erma Smith of Fort Smith, two brothers, Earl Whitman of Ozark and David Whitman of Paris, three grandchildren, Lexxi Whitman of Charleston and Isaac and Andie Lynn Whitman both of Paris.
Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m., on Friday, August 26, 2011at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Paris with Rev. Clyde Vire and Rev. John Shearheart officiating. Burial will be at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
Pallbearers will be Michael Whitman, Matthew Whitman, Earl Whitman, David Whitman, Steve Williams, Jeff Biggs, Larry Schmalz, Billy Reider and Ricky Brooks.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his friends.
