Paul C. Rasmussen, 70
Paul C. Rasmussen, 70, a resident of Mountain Home passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Baxter Regional Medical Center.
He was born December 16, 1942, in Woodland, California to the late Paul Neils and Clarice Eleanor (Bartholomew) Rasmussen. Paul married Geraldine Frances Hatfield on December 21, 1963 in Fairfield, California. He retired from the United States Navy Civil Service as an electrician after 36 years. Paul worked at Mare Island Navy Yard in the electric shop and then as a supervisor in the Gyro Compass Shop which manufactured compasses vital to the operation of nuclear submarines. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years on the Suisun City, English Hills and California Division of Forestry Volunteer Fire Departments. In August of 1995 Paul and Gerry relocated to Mountain Home from Vacaville, California. Paul worked at Mountain Communications in Mountain Home and was a Ham Radio operator, his call sign was KA6VAN. He was a member of the local Ham Radio Club as well as the Mercury Amateur Radio Association. Paul was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mountain Home.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gerry Rasmussen of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Jill Rasmussen of Alamo, Nevada; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Sig Hansen of Carpentersville, Illinois, Elizabeth Green of Mountain Home and Sarah and Corey Shelton of Mountain Home; 16 grandchildren and numerous friends.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Western Hills Loop in Mountain Home with Bishop Tom Fox officiating. Burial will be in Douglas Cemetery near Mountain Home under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Sig Hansen, Justin Rasmussen, Chance Williams, and grandsons, Jacob Moore, Caleb Hansen, Ammon Rasmussen and Ethan and John Blaine. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Hayes, Corey Shelton, Gilbert Hatfield, Lee Powell and Bill Rice. Memorials may be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints, 15 East South Temple, 2nd Floor East, Salt Lake City, UT 84150.
