Willena Algus Barton
Miss Willena Algus Barton, age 94, of Heber Springs went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born August 6, 1914 in West Point, Mississippi to the late John Walton Barton and Fannie M. (Thomas) Barton. She was a resident at Southridge Village Nursing Home in Heber Springs.
She was a faithful member of Sugarloaf Baptist Church and a member of Business and Professional Womens Club for 46 years and served as president for one term with with the North Little Rock club and another term with the Heber Springs chapter and was Woman of the Year in 2000. She was also a member of Cleburne County Extension Homemakers Club.
Willena was known for ther love of children and while living in West Memphis was superintendent of the primary age group for several years at the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her sister Thomas Allene Killough, formally of Vilonia, Arkansas.
Willena is survived by her sister Laverne Meadows and husband Roy of Heber Springs, Arkansas. Other survivors are nieces and nephews, David Meadows of Wilburn, Diane Hedge of Heber Springs, Geneva Hudson and husband Hershal of Grandview, MIssouri, Bruce Killough of Bellingham, Washington, Jimmy Killough and wife Vicki of Vilonia, Arkansas, Gloria Sutton and husband James, and Jerry Killough and wife Sue all of Conway, Arkansas.
