CAVE SPRINGS — Jim Charles Shearin, 67, was welcomed into Heaven at 4:22 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was at his residence with his family and Pomeranian, Sissy Bear, at his side.

Jim was born Oct. 12, 1945, in Little Rock, Ark., to Charles E. and Annie E. Shearin. Jim was a graduate of Hall High School and attended University of Arkansas-Little Rock.

In 1965, Jim was a popular radio disc jockey, "Gorgeous George." Moved into sales with KAAY and later salesman for KARK TV. In 1969, Jim married the love of his life, Janet Susan Godfrey. They had two children, Kelley and Cole. In 1970, Jim joined Rector Phillips Morse in Little Rock, Ark., and was the co-founder of McKay Askew Shearin in 1972.

In 1983, Jim moved to Rogers where he founded Shearin & Company with offices in Rogers and Bentonville. At the age of 20, his daughter, Kelley, joined his company, later to become his business partner of 23 years on Sept. 5, 2013.

Jim merged Shearin & Company with Harris McHaney Realtors to create Harris McHaney Shearin. Due to health issues, Jim retired from the Residential Company to focus on The Shearin Hathaway Group Commercial Realtors, which was the area's first exclusive commercial brokerage firm which he co-founded in 1997.

Kelley Shearin followed her father into commercial sales and stayed his business partner and later became his full-time caregiver sharing love, devotion and honor with her mother and brother. Cole, who moved back from Tennessee to share the last of his life while receiving his wisdom and blessings during his fight against colorectal cancer. Jim entered Washington Regional Home Hospice Jan. 14, 2013.

Jim was a teacher, a leader a men and women, a visionary, a good friend, husband, father, and grandfather of Brett Shearin and Falon Hanson.

His character and integrity will be remembered by all. His most important legacy was his faith in God and God's purpose. He was a member of Cross Church in Rogers, Ark.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Shearin and Annie E. Shearin; his brother, Billy Sims Shearin; his twin sons that died at birth; and his beloved Pomeranian, Bubby Bear.

Jim is survived by his wife, Janet Susan Shearin; one daughter, Kelley Faye Shearin Hanson of Fayetteville and his son-in-law, Jim Hanson; one son, Jason Cole Shearin of Rogers; and two grandchildren, Falon Kay Hanson of Fayetteville and Brett Chandler Shearin of Dickson, Tenn.; as well as many other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 8, 2013, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the Cross Church, 2448 Pinnacle Hills Parkway, Rogers, AR 72758, with the Rev. Bob Ryan and the Rev. Ben Rowell officiating. Burial will follow at Pinnacle Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services.
