Obituary
Nels Paul Jensen Sr., Commander, US Navy (Ret), age 80, of Heber Springs, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at his home. Born in Sioux Falls, S. D., on September 3, 1929, he was the son of the late Andrew Jensen and Johanna Weidemann Jensen.
A resident of Heber Springs since 1975, Mr. Jensen retired from the United States Navy as a Commander with 30 years of service. He was of the Christian faith.
Mr. Jensen was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee Jensen, on March 22, 2006; his parents; one brother, Lee Herbert Jensen; and one sister LaVonne Jensen Morgan.
He is survived by one son, Nels P. Jensen Jr. and his wife, Angela, of Heber Springs; one daughter, Karen Lee Bailes and her husband, Tom, of Mayflower; five grandchildren, Dane Jensen, Beth Jensen, Erin Bailes, Jeremy Bailes, and Justin Bailes; and four stepgrandchildren, Sophia Montgomery, Amanda Shore, Paul Michael Santana, and Evangelina Steiling. Mr. Jensen is also survived by his great-grandchildren, many relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 31, at Olmstead Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Graveside services with military honors and interment will be held Monday, February 1, at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m.
