Obituary
Neal Elmo Butler, age 78, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. Born in Wilburn, Arkansas, on November 1, 1926, he was the son of the late G. W. and Amy (Payton) Butler. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Butler served with the Sea Bees in the United States Navy. After returning from the war, he lived in Heber Springs where he worked as a salesman for Heber Hardware and Furniture. Mr. Butler and his family moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan, where he lived for fifteen years, and was employed as a materials handler for New Products Corporation. He then returned to Arkansas and was a resident of Batesville for twenty-five years. While living in Batesville, Mr. Butler was employed by General Tire Corporation (Gencorp) and retired in 1986. Soon after his retirement, he returned to Cleburne County and lived in Greers Ferry and Heber Springs where he enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as spending time with his family and three grandchildren. Mr. Butler was a member of the Heber Springs First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Roberta (Wood) Butler of Heber Springs; one daughter, Karon Egner and her husband, Hank, of North Little Rock; one brother, Doyle Butler of Heber Springs; one sister, Ather Butler Smith of Heber Springs; and three grandchildren, Stephanie Egner, Brandon Egner, and Kimberly Egner. Mr. Butler is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 11, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Dr. J. R. DeBusk officiating. Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens with military services by the American Legion Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Randy Johnson, Tim Frazier, Henry Clay Kelley, Galon Nelson, and Hilton Roberson, and F. D. Chick. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
