Obituary
Mildred May (Lacy) Davis, age 87, of Ida, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this earth at Baptist Health Medical Center on March 17, 2008, to her Heavenly Father. She was born May 4, 1920, at Ida, Arkansas, the daughter of Zeb Allen and Oma Ellen (Foust) Lacy of Ida, Arkansas. Her paternal grandparents were James Mitchel and Martha Jane (Dill) Lacy. Her maternal grandparents were Franklin Ellison and Victoria (Cannon) Foust of Ida, Arkansas. She married Jerry Davis on March 15, 1940, by Rev. William Foust at his home in Ida, Arkansas. She graduated from Concord High School in 1937 with a first grade teacher's license and taught in four different schools. Mildred will forever more be cherished as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, who will be remembered most for her loving and giving spirit and sense of humor.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Zeb Allen and Oma Ellen (Foust) Lacy and one brother, Moran Lacy, and wife Wonda Lee (Foust) Lacy, all of Ida, Arkansas.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years of marriage, Jerry Davis of Ida, AR; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and John Wooden of Tarpon Springs, Florida; one grandson, William Michael Wooden and wife, Kristi (LaRoe) Wooden; one great grandson, Austin Davis Wooden of Tarpon Springs, Florida; two brothers, Guy Lacy and wife, Charlotte, of Ida and Haroldene Lacy and wife, Maxine, of Ida; three sisters, Geneva Shearer and husband, Leo, of Ida, Juanita Dixon and husband, Clyde, of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Loveta Conklin of Drasco; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and her many, many friends.

Mildred's life was superior on this earth. After her school teaching, she was well known for her work in her community, her church, her home, and as a mother. She was chosen for the County Draft Board in World War II and was given a citation by President Roosevelt in 1945. She worked in Willow Run bomber plant in Michigan for a period of time. She and her family lived in Mishawaka, Indiana, for 44 years, and she worked as a supervisor for 22 years for the St. Joseph County, South Bend, Indiana, for handicapped teenagers. Mrs. Davis returned to her birthplace of Ida, Arkansas, in 1987 and continued in community and church work. She belonged to many clubs, including a charter member of the Pleasant Ridge General Baptist Church, a life member of the Cleburne County Historical Society, a life member of the D.A.V., a 50 year member of Eastern Star, 50 years as a York Rite Mason, and 50 years with the V.F.W. She was well known for her accomplishments.
