Obituary
Evelyn A. Mabes, age 79, of the Southridge Village Nursing Center in Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Friday, February 2, 2007, at White County Medical Center in Searcy. Born in Dallas, Texas, on March 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William and Evelyn (Bass) Anderson.
A resident of Heber Springs since 1971, Mrs. Mabes was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women.
Her husband, Elmer Mabes, preceded her in death on October 17, 2002. Mrs. Mabes was also preceded in death by one daughter, Liela Mabes, and one sister, Sue Springer.
She is survived by her sons, Tom Mabes and wife, Anne, of Illinois, Keith Mabes of Heber Springs, and Mark Mabes and wife, Terri, of Illinois; her daughters, Myra Bartos and husband, Stan, of Montana; and Sherri Smiddy and husband, Tom, of Florida; her grandchildren, Shannon and husband, Gabe, and Meghan; and great-grandson, Ethan. Mrs. Mabes is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at 10:30 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Richard Shinkle officiating. Interment will be in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens.
