Obituary - Raymond "Buddie"
Raymond (Buddie) Tapley, age 82, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. Born in Quitman, Arkansas, on November 12, 1924, he was the son of the late Danus and Blanche (Stark) Tapley.

Mr. Tapley was a lifetime resident of Heber Springs where he worked for McCurry Chevrolet in the parts department and also for Crow Burlingame. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army in northern Africa and Italy and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Tapley was a charter member and an ordained deacon of the Southside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Velma (Stacks) Tapley of Heber Springs; one son, Jackie Tapley and his wife, Bonnie, of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Dana McGary and her husband, Jerry, of Ft. Smith; one brother, Dale Jones; four sisters, Bernice Clayton, Eloise Bittle, Sue Jones, and Janet Hayes; four grandchildren, Chad Tapley, Meredith McGary, Brad Tapley, and Kristen Hopkins; and three great grandchildren, Chance Tapley, Braden Tapley, and Savanah Tapley. Mr. Tapley is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 23, at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 24, at 2:00 p.m. in the Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Holcomb and Rev. Denver Gillespie officiating. Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Velma Lee Stacks Tapley was born on October 10, 1925 to John J. and Minnie Viola Langley Stacks in Guy, Arkansas and died on August 16, 2011 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was a resident of Heber Springs and a charter member of the Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Tapley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years Raymond "Buddie" Tapley, one brother and two sisters. She is survived by a daughter Dana McGary and husband Jerry of Fort Smith, a son Jackie Tapley and wife Bonnie of Rose Bud, two grandsons Chad Tapley and wife Stephanie of Hopewell, Brad Tapley of Quitman, two granddaughters Meredith McGary of Fort Smith, Kristen Hopkins of Rose Bud, three great-grandchildren Chance, Braden and Savannah Tapley, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the Family request memorial donations to be made to the Southside Baptist Church.
