Velma Thurman, 75, of Barling entered into rest, Sunday, April 3, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was born Jan. 12, 1930 in Delcarbon, Colo., the daughter of the late Perry and Sybil Baker. Velma was a retired employee of J.C. Penney and a member of Community Bible Church. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Andrea L. Thurman of Scarsdale, N.Y.; a brother, Arley R. Baker of Baton Rouge, La.; and one granddaughter, Lisa Brooke Thurman of New York. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005, at Lewis Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith. Officiated by Pastor Ed Saucier with burial at Barling City Cemetery, Barling.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Jarvis and Derek Goodson. Arrangements under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith.
