ROGERS — Ed Haworth, 90, of Rogers died Jan. 3, 2008, at Salina, Kan. He was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to George D. and Laura Ann Haworth.
He was a 1936 graduate of Marshalltown High School and attended Marshalltown Junior College. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Oxenfield Haworth, in 2000.
He worked for Fisher Governor in Marshalltown.
He moved to Tulsa in 1954 and worked as a sales representative for Vinson Supply Co.
He moved to Rogers in 1966 and opened the Dog N' Suds Drive-In Restaurant. He sold commercial and residential real estate until his retirement.
He was a member of the Bella Vista Christian Church, the Lions Club, where he served on the board of directors and had received the Lifetime Membership Award.
He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Rogers for more than 10 years and was president of the Rogers AARP for a number of years.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Rogers American Legion and served as its treasurer for several years and had taught flag etiquette to students through the Americanism in Schools Program. He was a member of the Honor Guard.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Scott and husband Charles of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Karen Holmgren and husband Michael of Salina, Kan.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers with Dr. Richard a Hogan officiating.
Burial will he at 1 p.m. Monday at Rogers Cemetery.
Military honors will be conducted by the Rogers American Legion Post 100.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
