Gerald "Jerry" Gene Wunderlich
October 29, 1932 - January 7, 2011
Gerald "Jerry" Gene Wunderlich, 78, of Melbourne died Friday, January 7, 2011 at his home.
He was born Saturday, October 29, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri and was the son of Eugene Theodor Wunderlich and Theresa Adelheid (Friederichs) Wunderlich.
Jerry was a retired steel sales representative and a member of the First Baptist Church of Melbourne. Jerry had many interests and passions throughout his life, most importantly his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed going to church and his faith deepened throughout the years as a member of the First Baptist Church of Melbourne. He also loved his life with Shirley, especially the many opportunities they had to travel. They visited 15 foreign countries together, as well as extensive travel across the United States. They also enjoyed designing houses and overseeing the projects throughout the construction process. Jerry's 37 year career in the steel industry brought him great joy and he was honored to receive the prestigious Steel Peddler of the Year award in 1998.
Jerry was an avid sports fan and was especially passionate about all things St. Louis Cardinals. He also loved to bowl and reached the pinnacle of the sport when he bowled a 300 (a perfect game) and 800 three-game series in 1999. He was so proud of his son Steve, who spent 13 years on the PBA tour. Jerry also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with his pals in St. Louis.
His family and friends will miss him deeply but will always rejoice in the blessed assurance that he is at home in the eternal presence of God and in the full glory of heaven.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Shirley Ann (Nazelrod) Wunderlich of Melbourne; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cindy Wunderlich of Mansfield, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Steve Keeney of Mountain Grove, Missouri; three grandchildren, Katelin Keeney and Bryce Keeney of Mountain Grove and Matthew Wunderlich of Mansfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Bob Sutton of Ferguson, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His parents preceded him in death.
