J.W. Patterson, 70, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at his home. He graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1945 and attended Fort Smith Junior College. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 39 years and retired as outside plant manager. He was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church and the Telephone Pioneers. He was a Navy veteran.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Fort Smith, with burial at Barling Cemetery in Barling under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; one daughter, Terry Weisenfels of Fort Smith; one son, Wayne Patterson of Springdale; one brother, J.C. Patterson Jr. of Rogers; and three grandchildren, Nicholas Weisenfels of Fort Smith and Cara and John Patterson of Springdale.
Pallbearers will be Bill Fant, Harry White, Al Horne, Jim Gaines, Charles Laatz, Tom James, Harry Tucker, Ed Cole, Richard Pate and Dennis Cash.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Telephone Poineers.
