IMBODEN -- Walton McGinnis of Imboden died Friday, June 27, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Higginbotham Funeral Service of Walnut Ridge.

IMBODEN -- Funeral services for Walton McGinnis, 72, of Imboden, formerly of Peoria, Ill., who died Friday, June 27, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Imboden, with Tracy Martin, Harold Russell and Eric Hovind officiating.

Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery at Imboden under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service of Walnut Ridge.

Pallbearers will be Kent Andrew Hovind, Eric Hovind, Paul Jewell, Dave McLeod, Bobby Hickman and Larry Coleman.

Born in Dearborn, Mich., he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Imboden, serving several years as chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. He served as Deacon of Second Baptist Church of Peoria for more than 20 years. He retired as executive director of Imboden Housing Authority, receiving five Presidential Awards for Outstanding Administrative Achievements.

McGinnis retired from Caterpillar, Inc., in Peoria as a supervisor after 31 years. He was a Mason and an Army veteran of the Korean War. McGinnis was involved in many community activities, serving for 10 years on the Lawrence County Fair board and 10 years on the Hope Cemetery board.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Carolyn McGinnis of the home; one son, Michael Alan McGinnis of Peoria; one daughter, Jo Delia Hovind of Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Virginia Dutlinger of Peoria; six grandchildren, Terra McGinnis, Stephanie McGinnis and Tamara McGinnis, all of Peoria, and Kent Andrew, Eric Hovind and Marlissa Jewell, all of Pensacola; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and birth mother, Earl and Delia Long McGinnis; mother, Maude White McGinnis; one sister; and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church at Imboden, with Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Imboden building fund.
