Donald L. Heagwood, 72, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at his home. Mr. Heagwood was born April 9, 1940 at Checotah, Oklahoma to the late Lloyd Heagwood and the late Nellie Nicholes Heagwood. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and he retired from the West Helena Public School District, where he worked as a transportation manager.

He is survived by three sons, Lee Heagwood of West Helena, Richie Heagwood (Marcine) of Crestview, Florida and Jeff Heagwood (Naomi) of West Helena; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Schaffhauser (Michael), Andrew Heagwood (George Ann), Shana Heagwood, Josh Heagwood, Abby Heagwood, Tony Heagwood and Jacob Heagwood; two great-grandchildren, Chase Schaffhauser and Caezaun Heagwood; two sisters, Francis Lee (Claude) of West Helena and Shirlley Gruenke (Gary) of Cherry Valley, California; one brother, Dale Heagwood (Kathy) of DeQueen, Arkansas; and two sisters-in-law, Rita Nelson King (Joe) of West Helena and Julia Nelson Armes of Collierville, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Wanda Nelson Heagwood.

Graveside services for Donald Heagwood will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Roller-Citizens. Reverend Rodger Hooker will officiate.
