Harvey “Sammy” Simpson, 59, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Simpson was born August 1, 1951 in Ripley, Tennessee to the late Harvey Andrew Simpson and the late Lennie Echols Simpson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lambrook.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Leifer Simpson; three sons, Trey Simpson (Liz) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Joel Jumper (Sammy) of Barton, Arkansas and Stephen Simpson of Snow Lake; two daughters, Rae Snowden (Kenneth) of Elaine, Arkansas and Lea Jumper of Jonesboro, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Nate Jumper, Ty Monroe and Emma Jumper; future grandson and namesake, Little Sammy Simpson; and four brothers, Leonard Simpson of Clarksdale, Mississippi, Gilbert Simpson (Trudy) of Memphis, Tennessee, Claude Simpson (Kathy) of Lexa, Arkansas and Freddy Simpson (Linda) of Ripley, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Jennings; and three brothers, William, Wilson and Donald Simpson.
Graveside services for Sammy Simpson will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9-10 a.m. at West Helena Baptist Church. Brother Danny Weatherford will officiate.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Pankey, Ricky Pankey, George Henson, Johnny Williamson, Richard Williamson and Marvin Harper.
