BELLA VISTA — John R. "Jack" Thayer, 82, of Bella Vista died July 26, 2000. He was born March 20, 1918, in St. Paul, Minn., to Percival and Agnes Thayer.

He and his wife moved to Bella Vista in 1986 from Edina, Minn. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Law and worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1942 to 1973. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista and the Sons of the American Revolution and NARFE.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Metrailer Thayer of Bella Vista; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Taylor and Denise of Minneapolis, Minn., and Paul Thayer and Anne of Austin, Texas; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Ellen Thayer Schroeder and Kevin, Maureen Thayer, Carolyn Graiziger and Pat, all of Minneapolis, Yvonne Thayer of Washington, D.C., and Jill Thayer and Mike of Oakland, Calif.; two brothers, Richard Thayer and Dr. Jerome Thayer, both of St. Paul, Minn.; one sister, Anne Pagnotta of St. Paul; 11 grandchildren.

Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Joseph J. Enderlin officiating. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a favorite library.
