Billy Joe Amos, Sr., 81, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Amos was born March 9, 1931 at Pocahontas, Arkansas to the late Fred and Sina P. Cagle Amos. He was a Baptist and a former employee of Mohawk Tire and Rubber Company.
Mr. Amos is survived by two sons, Billy Amos, Jr. (Susan) of Lexa, Arkansas and Terry Amos (Lesa) of Gaston, South Carolina; three daughters, Debbie Wilkinson (Custer) of Rena Lara, Mississippi, Margie Smith (Johnny) of Marvell, Arkansas and Evelyn Wheeler (Johnny) of West Helena; two sisters, Geneva Brown (Tommy Gene) of Phoenix, Arizona and Otra DeLong of Jerseyville, Illinois; one brother, Bob Amos (Ruth) of Hernando, Mississippi; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, three brothers and a grandson, Jabe F. Amos.
Graveside services for Billy Joe Amos, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Reverend Rodger Hooker will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
