Vernon Durant Hartsfield, 64, of Marvell passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Hartsfield was born March 21, 1944 in Connells Point, Arkansas to the late Ralph Leonard Hartsfield and the late Annie Kornegay Hartsfield.

He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Hartsfield of Maumelle, Arkansas and Amy Hartsfield of North Little Rock, Arkansas; the mother of his children, Judy Stingley Hartsfield of Maumelle; sisters, Elner Crisp and Barbara Crisp, both of Marvell, Arkansas, Imogene Hollowell of Huntsville, Alabama, Joan Holloway of Helena, Arkansas, Julia Carruth of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Toni Thompson of Hernando, Mississippi; 8 nephews and 7 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Troy Hartsfield; special nephew, Todd Thompson; his father-in-law, Roscoe Stingley.

Services for Mr. Hartsfield will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Roller-Citizens Chapel at 4 p.m. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Roller-Citizens. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, West Helena, Arkansas. Reverend David Hellwig will officiate.

Pallbearers are Allen Crisp, Monte Hollowell, Fred Holloway, Leonard Hartsfield, Craig Carruth, Vaughn Holloway, Rhodes Thompson and Curtis Crisp. Honorary pallbearers are James S. “Bo” Corder, William S. “Turk” Corder, Charles Duffel, Harold Gilmore, Malloyd Moore, Ralph Murray, Russell Raney, Bill Stone, Dr. John Mayo and members of the Big Creek Duck Club.

Memorials may be made to Smalley Cemetery Fund, 3997 PC 623 Road, Marvell, Arkansas 72366.
