Mr. Jack Morris
II Corinthians 5:8 "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord". Beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, and best friend Jack Morris, peacefully went to the Lord Monday, September 5, 2011 in Houston, Texas after his battle with cancer.
Jack's colorful life began September 12, 1934 in Fifty Six, Arkansas. He was raised in Olney Springs, Colorado where he worked as a farmer starting at the ripe old age of 5. He graduated from Olney Springs High School where he played baseball and basketball and led his team to the Colorado State Championship in basketball. He later received a basketball scholarship and attended Pueblo Junior College until being drafted into the Army in 1956. Jack met his loving wife of 52 years in Houston, Texas during his time in the armed forces. While living in Pueblo, Colorado Jack worked at the steel mill while also perfecting his skills as a wood worker/craftsman. He returned to Houston in 1969 and soon founded his company M&M Wood Products where he worked until his retirement in 2009.
He loved his life, and told the most wonderful stories until the end. While he was the hardest worker we've ever known, he felt the most important thing to him was his family. He was a generous, kind, selfless man who was loved by everyone that knew him. Jack was preceded in death by his mother, father, four brothers, and his son, Richard. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou; sister, Virginia McCleary; daughters, Deborah Thompson, Colleen McKeon; son, John Morris; as well as his nine grandchildren whom he adored, Marlena, Kayla, Bond, Mason, Clayton, Jacqueline, Tess, Jack, and Pierce.
Visitation and funeral services were held Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Houston, Texas and the funeral service was Friday, September 9, 2011 at Memorial Drive Christian Church in Houston, Texas.
Graveside service is 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Big Flat Cemetery, Big Flat, Arkansas. Roller Crouch Funeral Home, Mtn. View is in charge of the graveside service.
