Mildred Lavone Henderson, 84, years of age, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 after a two year battle with cancer. Lavone was preceded in death by her husband, V.W. Henderson, and her parents, Elzie and Johnny Colbert.
Lavone is survived by one daughter, Sherry Kelley, one son, Bobby Henderson (Debbie), two grandsons, Wayne Brown (Kim) and Shawn Brown, one great-grandson, Matthew Brown, one great-granddaughter, Skylar Brown and one brother, Leslie Colbert.
Lavone was a retired math teacher from Oak Grove High School. She taught many students the concepts of Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus, even after her retirement when she provided private tutoring to the children of her earlier students. She was a wonderful influence on her family and many friends. She was a loving, giving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She made many sacrifices in her efforts to help her family have a better life.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2011 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd. North Little Rock, AR (501-791-7400). Interment will follow at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle, AR. The services will be conducted by Wayne Jarvis. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Roller-Owens Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hematology Oncology Services of Arkansas, Maumelle Health & Rehab and Arkansas Hospice for the comfort and care provided during her two year illness.
