Funeral services for George W. Padgett, 80, of Star Route 5, who died Tuesday afternoon at Forrest Memorial Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Stevens Funeral Home. Rev. Lamar Lifer will conduct the services. Burial will be in Forrest Park Cemetery.
Mr. Padgett was born Feb 26, 1887, in Scottsburg, Ala., the son of George and Tipple Padgett. A farmer and member of Riverside Baptist Church; he spent most of his life in St. Francis County.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Watts Padgett, whom he married in 1914; three sons, Louis and Raymond Padgett of Forrest City and Wilburn Padgett, in the Air Force in New Hamphshire; four daughters, Mrs. Geneva Casey and Mrs. James Mitchusson of Forrest City, Mr. S Herman Leslie of West Helena and Mrs. Floyd Wall of Memphis; 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
