HOBBS, Benj. F. - Died Sunday night, January 19th, 1890, Benj. F. Hobbs, aged 47 years, at his late residence, six miles southwest of this city, of pneumonia. The deceased was born in Bastrop county, Texas where he lived until about the close of the war when he moved to Carroll county, this State, and engaged in the mercantile business. About 1879 he came to this county and located on a farm on Pea Ridge. Later he moved to Bentonville and engaged quite extensively in the nursery business. He served a term as postmaster in this place under Garfield after which he moved to his farm six miles out where he spent the remainder of his days. He had been a faithful member of the Christian Church since 1874. He was a member of Bentonville Lodge No. 56, F. & A.M. and was by them consigned to his last resting place in the Rogers cemetery on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was an exemplary citizen, a loving husband and a kind father, and by his death the country loses one of her best men. A widow and five children are left to mourn their terrible loss.
