Bentonville, Feb. 23-(Special)- Horace Douglas Hobbs, 83, died at Bates Memorial Hospital in Bentonville at 2 a.m. Tuesday after a five weeks illness. He was born October 21, 1866, in Berryville and was later an express agent there. At the time of his death, Mr. Hobbs was a justice of the peace. He was a member of the Christian Church and the Masonic lodge.
Survivors are: Five children, Mrs. Mildred Harlon, Maplewood, Mo.; Mrs. Harriet Brown, Oceanside, Calif.; Richard F. Hobbs and Mrs. D.S. Leshler, Kirkwood, Mo.; and Charles H. Hobbs, St. Louis, Mo.; one brother Roscoe C., St. Louis, Mo.; and three sisters, Mrs. R. F. McPhettridge, Brockstone, Va.; Mrs. Claude Strode, Little Rock; and Mrs. Bert Carney, Nobie, Okla.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Bentonville by the Rev. James A. Word. A Masonic service will be held at the graveside at the cemetery in Rogers. Callison-Mckinney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
