ROGERS — Betty Lou Davis Felts, 86, of Rogers passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Shiloh Health and Rehabilitation in Springdale. She was born Sept, 1, 1926, in Rogers, Ark., to Hugh and Izora Davis.

After graduating from Rogers High School in 1944, Betty taught school at Pleasant Ridge school for a year before going to work as a switchboard operator at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Rogers. She was transferred to Kansas City, Mo., in 1956 where she continued to work for Southwestern Bell as a quality supervisor until her retirement in 1982.

In 1978, Betty married the love of her life, Ervin Felts of Kansas City, Mo. They lived life to the fullest and traveled extensively until Ervin's death in 2007. Although they visited many amazing places in their travels, Betty always counted her trip to the Holy Land as the most amazing place she ever visited and many times recounted the thrill of having walked where Jesus walked.

Having no children of her own, she doted on her many nieces, nephews and stepgrandchildren with great affection, treating them like they were her own. She was always busy — whether crafting, sewing, cooking or treating family and friends to her one-of-a-kind "tours" of Kansas City and all the special places the city afforded. In 2007, Betty moved back to Rogers, residing at Apple Blossom Retirement Center, where she made many wonderful and lasting friendships with other residents there.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Ervin; two brothers, Charles and James "Shorty" Davis; two sisters, Bessie Pate and Velma Ash; grandson, Shane Felts; and great-nephew, Hunter Long.

She is survived by two sisters, Martha Jo McGinnis and husband, Bill, of Springdale and Leota Beard and husband, Clint, of Rogers; brother and sister-in-law, Art and Shirley Felts of Kansas City, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, stepgrandchildren and loving friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 17, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Backstrom-Pyeatte funeral home in Springdale, with the funeral service Monday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at Backstrom-Pyeatte funeral home. The funeral service will be followed by a graveside service at Oakley Chapel in Rogers, Ark., officiated by Pastor Randy Parks and under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte funeral home of Springdale.
