Mr. Melvin Eugene Lucas, age 72, of Forrest City, died Thursday at his home in Forrest City. He had been in poor health for the past several months.
Mr. Lucas was born December 17, 1940, in Earle, Arkansas, and was the son of Jabe Lucas and Lorene Dugan Lucas. He lived in Crittenden County, Cross County, and St. Francis County most of his life, was a maintenance supervisor, a Veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a Baptist.
Mr. Lucas married Martha Smalley in 1973, and she survives him along with one son, Michael Lucas of Forrest City, two daughters; Melanie Abram of Haynes and Debra Colinger of Magnolia, Arkansas, one brother, Cecil Lucas of Forrest City, three sisters; Marilyn Lucas, Hazel Martin and B Thrower, all of Nashville, Tennessee, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He had one son, Johnny Lucas, who preceded him in death.
Services for Mr. Lucas will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 3:00 P.M., Sunday with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery.
