Husband of tootsie Taylor Cowan
Mr. Lee Everitt 'Happy' Cowan, age 87, of Doniphan, Missouri, formerly of Colt, died Tuesday at the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He had been in poor health for the past several years.
Mr. Cowan was born February 6, 1926, in Colt, and was the son of Floyd Cowan Sr. and Maude Taylor Cowan. He lived in St. Francis County most of his life, was a Veteran of the Navy in World War II, enjoyed gardening and the farmer's market, had worked for Independent Linen and had worked for D & D Guard Patrol for seventeen years and retired in 1988, and was a member of the Southside Missionary Baptist Church in Wynne.
Mr. Cowan married Lillie Mae 'Tootsie' Taylor in 1946, and she survives him along with two sisters-in-law; Tempy 'Sis' Schultz of Doniphan, Missouri, and Helen Cowan Cullum of Forrest City, one nephew, Dalon Cowan, and wife, June, of Kimberling City, Missouri, and one niece, Phyllis Cowan Hillis, and husband, Tommy, of Forrest City. He had one brother, Floyd Cowan Jr., who preceded him in death.
Services for Mr. Cowan will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 1:00 P.M., Friday, with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery.
